Bridal skincare prep

Wedding skincare prep and tips from the expert!

Get your skin wedding ready, starting with education so you can then make an informed decision on the route you want to take.

As a makeup artist, I am a huge believer in good skincare, this is the base to any makeup look… sounds bizarre but the better the skin the less makeup you need to wear…

For me makeup should capture the essence of your beauty and enhance all your features, be it for a natural or more dramatic look – we still want people to tell us how amazing our skin looks, or ask us what foundation we are wearing? and to that my girls, you can say my skin!

Although for everyday wear I do love a mineral based foundation with light coverage like the Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals anyways let’s get talking to the expert…..

Today I got to chat with skincare guru and salon award winning salon owner Andrea Farrelly from SKIN & BODYWORKS in Navan, Co.Meath about all things skin! I discovered this salon thanks to all my brides who had glowing skin and gorgeous tans on their wedding morning so that’s when I started attending Skin & Bodyworks (I can highly recommend their Lusso spray tan, FYI)

So where or how do you even start your healthy skin journey? Or as I like to refer to it as the lit from within glow effect??

Andrea suggests that first and foremost you do your research, you need to find a salon that has a reputation for its skincare treatments and products. The type of products you want to look for are cosmeceutical ranges like Environ, IMAGE, Clinicare, Ultraceuticals, these ranges have high quality active ingredients with clinically proven results.

Book a consultation and build a relationship with your therapist. Know what you want for your skin, not what your friend has or what treatment she has had done! Build a plan and get a budget in place.

Be prepared to invest at least 6-12 months before your big day for your skin journey.

I also asked Andrea how important homecare is? I personally now get facials only every 4 months as my homecare is so on point, so I can personally say, its all about the homecare!!  Andrea explains; 80% of your results come from your homecare (yes that’s how active and awesome these cosmeceutical ranges are!!) the ranges contain good quality active ingredients, peptides (hail to the collagen boosters) Hyaluronic serum, Vitamin A & C.

Consistency is key for glowing skin, so following through on your morning an evening routines EVERYDAY ( I now use it as my time to escape for 5 minutes)

Building on your products on a regular basis so your achieving your desired results, adding things like masks, serums, hydrating oil capsules, taking skin supplements to help the skin from the inside out

Have patience, a skin journey takes time, especially if you suffer form pigmentation or breakouts, these can take at least 6 months to get under control

What are our top favorite products – this was a really really tough one to narrow down!!!Trust me we could have had a list a lot longer

  1. Revival Mask as it contains 3 types of different acids to slough away any dead skin revealing brighter, tighter and refined skin tone leaving the skin future resilient this is your botox effect in a jar!!
  2.  CIT roller– this allows your products to penetrate 100% into the skin, as you build on your skincare, the skin becomes so strong and healthy that it becomes harder for the products to get past, the roller gives you value for money! Speed up the process of reducing the appearance of fine lines using this roller. When I introduced this into my routine, I couldn’t get over the results so for me it was a complete game changer to my routine
  3.  Environ Vita Peptide Eye Gel- this eye gel is packed with essential vitamins, antioxidants and peptides to plump and hydrate under the eye area while protecting it from external environmental damage
  4.  Supplements– you need to make sure you are taking care of the skin from the inside out, we all lead such busy life’s, making sure we are giving our skin the nutrients it needs to stay strong and healthy as well as protecting it from future damage
